Why I dislike actors
Killing time, waiting for the next actor to come through for casting. I love casting, but I hate actors. That's a tough one right there. Every day is a party in casting. The work is easy and the people are almost always laid back and fun. When I worked on "Hell's Kitchen 2," every day was a party in casting. The fun atmosphere must have worked to our advantage because we were the most together and organized department.
But I hate actors. They are so fake, they are always playing you. There is this unquantifiable quirk about them... it just irks me. I think my hatred began waaaaaay back in the day when I was a receptionist and we were holding casting sessions in the office (for the role of a gold-digging stripper, of course). There were literally hundreds of girls, of varying degrees of skankiness, through the lobby in 3 or 4 days. Casting was running late, sometimes as much as 2 hours. And the actors kept asking me how much longer, whining that they had been waiting and waiting, etc.
Not one of them brought a book to read. How many casting calls have you been on? They ALL run late. Bring a book to keep yourself occupied! I always have reading material on me. I cannot respect someone who doesn't like to read. On "HK2" several of our actors and extras brought books. I respected them and took them off my actors shit list.
Hm, my next actor is here. I best go collect them. Maybe later I will share my favorite casting moment in recent memory. Or maybe I will talk about something TOTALLY different.
