Dita von Teese

Dita von Teese was signing her new book last night at Book Soup. I adore her so. she is just unbelievably beautiful. she is very petite, soft-spoken... very delicate. But very kind. I want to be her friend. But that sounds creepy, so I shall just admire her from afar. She recommended a good place to buy corsets (since I could never afford a custom made Mr. Pearl corset)

I am not sure why I was so surprised that the people who were there for the book signing were creepy and weird. One guy had come all the way down from Oxnard (which, if you don't know, is about a 2-3 hour trip). I guess I just assumed that if I was there, it would be populated by other girls who just love their corsets. But i have been to book signings before (for a while I was almost stalking Clive Barker via book signings) and everyone who goes to them is weird and creepy. So it is not exclusive to Dita.

The guy behind me in line was weird, and creepy, but had a moment of sweetness. He was unkempt and wearing mismatched clothes. He was talking a lot about theatres he used to work in and was name dropping like crazy. I even heard him tell a story that on his resume, he used to include a list of all the celebrities he has "worked with" but then took it off because no one believed him (hi buddy. It's not necessarily that no one believed you; it's that no one cares). It was really annoying because he obviously was just one of those people who was desperate to be around celebrity, by parking valet and sweeping up at theatres. But then he told a story about how an actor at a small theatre company wouldn't run the spotlight for him one day because he was "an actor, not a spotlight guy." The guy in line behind me said something to the effect of "that's just the wrong attitude to have. I love show business and i will do anything to be around it." I found that to be very sweet and endearing.

But then he started name dropping again and I became instantly annoyed.
