My latest shopping coup
So, as you may know, I am a serious shopper. My sister blog, Spork Fashion (see link below) is a testament to that. I am not just a shopaholic, but I am a hardcore bargain hunter. So last night's purchase pleased me greatly.
I had about $190 in gift certificates to Victoria's Secret, a result of bridal shower returns. I am not a fan of VS - their clothing is hit or miss and their bras don't fit me. I was in no rush to spend it, so I waited until their semi-annual sale & clearance - if I am going to get iffy merchandise, I may as well get twice as much.
Like any good shopper, I checked around online for a special offer code. I found 2: one for free shipping, and one of those tiered discounts. $30 off a $150+ purchase or $75 off a $250 purchase.
I narrowed my purchase down to $219 and change, including shipping. After my tiered discount (which was a better deal than the free shipping code), it came out to around $226. My brain, mostly math-deficient, started screaming that I could get a better deal.
I added another pair of pants and a bottle of hand lotion to the cart, bringing my total to $256 and change. After my new discount code, the grand total came to $216 or so, after tax and shipping. That's right - I added 2 items and saved $10+.
My purchase ended up as:
- 2 pairs of yoga pants
- 2 pairs of Marisa Fit slacks
- 2 pairs of panties
- 1 bikini
- 1 stretch silk blouse - red with black lace
- 1 henley shirt
- 1 bottle body lotion
- 2 cream eye shadows
- 1 bra
- and a partridge in a pear tree
