San Francisco Day 3.5: The End
We woke early to pack and check out. But before we left San Francisco, there was one thing left to do: eat dim sum. A friend told us he would never speak to us again if we didn't get dim sum. We hailed a cab. Our cabbie was on his way to pick up his lunch, and asked if we were in a hurry. We weren't so we relaxed while he jammed over to a sandwich shop to pick up his lunch before dropping us off at our restaurant. He was really nice about it - he turned off the meter and just told us to give him a few buck, whatever we felt. Hey, we can't deny a guy a sammich!
It was amazing. I am not a fan of Chinese food but I loved dim sum. We found a restaurant that was well-ranked on City Search. The wait staff was very attentive. We got there early, around 11:30, so we beat the lunch rush. The moment we sat down, women with carts surrounded us. They each offered something different: one had steamed dim sum, one had fried. One made minced chicken-in-lettuce cups (we got one of those); another offered plates of veggies (too healthy for us). One woman even came around offering sliced duck. We ended up with fried shrimp, steamed shrimp, steamed shrimp with chives, fried tofu, steamed pork, chicken lettuce cups, and pork in big fluffy sweet buns. We ate until we were stuffed.
We walked back to the hotel in the hopes of eating up time. We still got there with time to kill, so we chilled in the lobby until our shuttle came. We braved public transport on the way to the hotel; we decided to be lazy on the way to the airport. But it was neat - we got to drive over the Bay Bridge. Our flight was fine - I slept the whole way.
And now we are back home, back into the groove of things.
